DIGITAL FABRICATION TECHNIQUES

FOURWALL has been experimenting with various 2D and 3D digital fabrication techniques using our in house X Carve CNC machine. Inspired by an applied design research approach to digital fabrication FOURWALL is experimenting with subtractive manufacturing and various techniques including use of sectioning, tessellating and contouring. Early material studies have included the use of various thickness of standard and birch plywood, aluminum, MDF, cardboard, and acrylic. Recent technical experiments include the combined use of parametric modeling software (grasshopper, rhino) with subtractive manufacturing tools (CNC) and include various bridging (GRBL Universal G Code) and calibration exercises (bit types, drill speeds, material densities).
